Podcast Skills
In this podcast, media futurist Jonathan
Halls focuses on how to develop skills you
need to create a podcast. He suggests four
things you can do to improve your ability to
create phenomenal podcasts. First, learn as
much as you can about podcasting and the
media revolution. Second, practice making
podcasts - it's like 'flying time', he
says. Third, review your content
critically. And fourth, exercise
self-discipline and improve the areas of
your performance that are weak.

Up to You
Last year radio was 101 years old.
Podcasting hasn't even reached its 5th
birthday. While we've had a long time to
learn what works and doesn't work in radio,
we haven't had that opportunity with
podcasting because it is still in its
infancy. Media futurist and leadership
specialist, Jonathan Halls claims that as we
discover this new medium, it's up to us to
create it. And that, he says, is exciting.

Relationship
It's important to build a relationship with
your listener if you intend on having him or
her subscribe to your podcast on a regular
basis. And there are many ways you can do
this which are employed by professional
broadcasters. In this podcast, Jonathan
suggests two to get you started. The first
is 'one-to-one'. The second is script your
podcast.

Script Your Podcast
There are many reasons to script your
podcast. One good reason is it frees your
mind from having to think of the next word
or idea and allows it to focus on the
quality of your delivery - intonation,
expression and so on. A script also helps
you think through your content. But what
makes a good script? In this podcast,
Jonathan Halls offers tips on word choice,
sentences, phrases and quotations.
